Huga Tuga Creations

Huga Tuga (pronounced hooga -tooga) is a magical blue sea monster who takes children on amazing adventures through the world of imagination.  Along the journey the children learn valuable lessons about life, family and friendship.

I designed my books, music and Huga Tuga "Reading Rocks" Theater for parents and schools who are as excited as I am when it comes to enriching the lives of children through the magic of reading.

There is also a personal reason why I dedicated myself to visiting schools, libraries & hospitals throughout CT, NY, NJ, RI & MA - and it sure wasn't to make loads of money. Teachers can certainly appreciate that. 

To make a long story short: When I was in elementary school no one ever visited our class to encourage us to pursue our dreams or to believe in our imaginations.  I didn't begin writing until a car accident left me with severe back and neck injuries.  I was driving down the highway when a light pole just happened to fall on my car.  Little did I know at the time it would be a life altering experience - in a positive way.  I couldn't go back to work so I went back to college.  I took a few early childhood writing courses and I haven't stopped writing since. 

However, in 2000, at the age of 37, the dream began to crumble.  I knew in order to keep it alive I would have to make tough decision.  Over the next year - I found the courage (with amazing support from family and friends) to give up the so called secure life for the starving artist life.  It was literally a one in a million chance of success but I didn't want to regret not having at least tried.  I also knew I would never be happy if I didn't.  I'm glad I took that chance.  Hopefully, by visiting schools, libraries & hospitals I can put a smile on the face of a child and at the same time (though my experiences) help them realize their full potential by believing in their imaginations.
